Where to Eat in Gulf Shores with a Big Group: Restaurants, Private Rooms, Catering and Groceries (2026)

By Avara Stays · Updated November 3, 2026

A big seafood boil with shrimp, snow crab legs, corn on the cob, red potatoes and sausage piled together, ready to share

Feeding twenty-seven people at the beach is part logistics, part celebration. The best weeks mix a few long dinners out with easy nights at the house, and a little planning makes both feel effortless. This guide gathers what Gulf Shores and Orange Beach restaurants publish about large parties, reservations and private rooms, plus the caterers, chefs, seafood boils and grocery services that bring dinner to you, so your group can spend less time waiting for a table and more time at it.

Restaurant hours and group rules change with the season, and some change on November 1. Everything below is what each venue published on November 3, 2026. Before you promise the family a table, confirm with the restaurant.

The golden rule: most places don’t take reservations

The Gulf Shores & Orange Beach tourism board says it plainly: most restaurants here do not offer reservations, and for a large group it suggests dining before or after the dinner rush so your entire party can be seated. In practice, a big group eats best with three habits:

Gulf Shores restaurants that publish large-group policies

All of these are a short drive from Dolphin View. The Hangout, at the end of Highway 59, is 2.2 mi, about 6 min by car from the duplex.

The Hangout

Directly across from the Gulf Shores public beach, The Hangout says that sports teams, church groups and family reunions are always welcome, with plenty of seating for everyone, and its events page adds that no reservation is necessary and walk-ins are always welcome. For a private or semi-private event, you fill out its form and a manager contacts you. In May, June, July and August it books events only between 8 AM and 4 PM.

LuLu’s

LuLu’s, at 200 East 25th Avenue in Gulf Shores, says it can accommodate parties of all sizes. It is a large open-air restaurant without a private room to rent, and in spring and summer it seats guests in the order they arrive and does not accept reservations. It does host some large parties and events in its shoulder season, October through February; its FAQ asks you to email the restaurant and name the Gulf Shores location. It is closed on Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and New Year’s Day.

Original Oyster House Boardwalk

The Original Oyster House at 701 Gulf Shores Parkway takes reservations for 10 or more, except on busy holiday weekends and from April 1 to Labor Day weekend, through a manager. Outside peak seasons it can reserve the Lighthouse Room for up to 45 people or Pelican’s Landing, a semi-private waterfront room, for up to 40, confirmed through management. Planning takeout instead? From Memorial Day weekend to Labor Day weekend and on busy holiday weekends, it offers takeout only until 3 PM.

Acme Oyster House

Acme, at 216 E. 24th Avenue in Gulf Shores, does not accept reservations at any location. For a private party, it asks you to use its private dining form, and a party is not confirmed until its home office confirms it. Its Gulf Shores restaurant does not book private parties during peak summer season. Acme’s catering team also brings the party to your home, and it sells group-size portions for pickup.

Coast at The Beach Club

For an elegant Gulf-front evening, Coast sits at The Beach Club Resort & Spa on the Fort Morgan peninsula of Gulf Shores. Its veranda seats parties of up to 80 and the whole restaurant up to 130, with custom or regular menus; parties of more than 30 are handled by its catering team, and smaller groups book directly with the restaurant. On November 3, 2026 its site listed dinner on Friday and Saturday only, so check the season’s hours.

Perch and Woodside at Gulf State Park

Two restaurants at The Lodge at Gulf State Park suit very different nights. Perch is the lodge’s steak and coastal seafood restaurant above the dunes, open Wednesday to Sunday evenings; the tourism board says it accepts reservations of up to 20 people and suggests booking days or weeks ahead. Woodside, inside the park on State Park Road, is the relaxed one: Southern fare, a patio with fire pits and live music on select nights, open daily for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Woodside does not publish a group policy, so ask before you bring a crowd.

Orange Beach: waterfront dining and private rooms

Orange Beach is a short drive east of Gulf Shores and closest to Oasis Unit 2201. The Wharf is 7.7 mi, about 14 min by car from Oasis.

Voyagers

Voyagers, at Perdido Beach Resort, is a Gulf-front dining room with floor-to-ceiling windows, open nightly from 5 PM. Its group dining page says the team can help with everything from small group reservations to larger special events, with buffets or plated menus customized by its chefs. You start with a request form, and full restaurant buyouts may be available on select dates.

The Gulf

Beside the pass, The Gulf is an open-air restaurant built from shipping containers and reclaimed materials. For special events it offers a private upper-floor seating area and its open-air venue, with its own event planning and catering staff. The tourism board notes buffet and family-style dinner options for groups.

Cobalt, The Restaurant

Under the Perdido Bay Bridge, Cobalt says every table has a view of the bay. It has a private dining room and a large outdoor deck, and its event team can also cater a party at a location of your choosing.

Barometer

On the water in Orange Beach, Barometer’s private events page lists room for 75 upstairs, 40 on the patio and 250 for the whole place, with ten boat slips at the dock if part of your group arrives by water. Its website also takes table reservations.

The Port at Zeke’s

For a true celebration dinner, The Port at Zeke’s Landing Marina is an event venue with marina views and indoor and outdoor space for up to 350 guests. Every event there is catered in-house by Zeke’s Restaurant, from buffet to plated dinner, with full bar service.

Wolf Bay

Wolf Bay, a family-owned Gulf Coast restaurant since 1973, has an Orange Beach location at 24131 Perdido Beach Blvd., with fall and winter hours from November 1. Its catering team hosts groups in three banquet rooms at its Foley location (10 to 250 people), on its deck overlooking the Orange Beach waters, or off site.

Dinner at the house: family meals, boils and private chefs

Some of the best nights never leave the house: everyone in the pool, the deck full of friends and family, dinner arriving in big trays. These local options bring it to you.

Remember that our Gulf Coast homes don’t host weddings or events.

Stocking the kitchen

Rouses Markets has stores on Gulf Shores Parkway and on Perdido Beach Boulevard in Orange Beach (store locator). The Orange Beach store has a full-service bakery, deli, seafood and meat counters, grab-and-go meals and Chef’s Case dishes sold in whatever quantity you want, and pickup and delivery seven days a week. For a big group, one organized online order on arrival day saves several trips.

A picnic, but not on the sand

Leave the grill at the house. The City of Gulf Shores bans fires, grills and cooking devices, glass and alcoholic beverages on its public beaches, and Orange Beach’s Leave Only Footprints rules ban fire (including grills), glass containers and loud music on the sand. For an outdoor cookout away from the homes, Alabama State Parks rents two picnic pavilions at Lake Shelby in Gulf State Park, each with at least four picnic tables and a charcoal grill, bookable up to a year ahead (not on major holidays). Our beach rules guide has the full lists.

A dining plan for a week with 20 or more

  1. Arrival night: keep it easy. Order a grocery delivery or pickup for the morning, and pick up family meals or a boil for dinner.
  2. Midweek: one long, early dinner out at a place that welcomes large groups, with a scout sent ahead.
  3. The big night: a private room, booked well ahead, or a chef at the house, or a seafood boil at the Beachfront Duplex once we have said yes.
  4. The rest: two kitchens, two crews, grills going on the patio, and the sunset from the deck.

Our beachfront duplex guide for 20 to 27 guests covers how the two sides split, our family reunion guide covers the reunion dinner and photos on the beach, and our Christmas and New Year’s guide covers holiday dinners. For daytime plans, see things to do with a big group, and if part of the family stays in Orange Beach, our Oasis at Orange Beach resort guide explains the resort’s grills and café.

Quick answers

Do restaurants in Gulf Shores and Orange Beach take reservations for big groups?

Many don’t. The local tourism board says most restaurants do not offer reservations and suggests that large groups eat before or after the dinner rush so the whole party can be seated. A few do publish group rules: the Original Oyster House in Gulf Shores takes reservations for 10 or more outside holiday weekends and April 1 to Labor Day weekend, and Voyagers in Orange Beach plans group dinners through a request form. Acme Oyster House takes no reservations at any location, and LuLu’s seats guests in the order they arrive in spring and summer.

Which Gulf Shores restaurants welcome large groups without a reservation?

The Hangout, across from the Gulf Shores public beach, says sports teams, church groups and family reunions are always welcome with plenty of seating, and that walk-ins are always welcome. LuLu’s says it can accommodate parties of all sizes and seats guests in the order they arrive in spring and summer.

Where can a group of 30 or more have a private dinner?

Several venues publish room sizes: Coast at The Beach Club in Gulf Shores (the veranda for up to 80, the whole restaurant for up to 130), Barometer in Orange Beach (75 upstairs, 40 on the patio, 250 for the whole venue) and The Port at Zeke’s in Orange Beach (up to 350, catered in-house). The Original Oyster House in Gulf Shores has rooms for up to 45 and 40 outside peak seasons. Voyagers says full restaurant buyouts may be available on select dates.

Can we get family meals or catering to go?

Yes. Shrimp Basket sells a Family Meal Deal that serves 4 to 6, ordered online for pickup at its Gulf Shores and Orange Beach restaurants. Acme Oyster House in Gulf Shores offers group-size portions for pickup. Wolf Bay offers drop-off catering, and Doc’s Seafood Shack in Orange Beach offers catering, delivery and takeout. Ask each restaurant about lead times for a large order.

Can we hire a private chef to cook at our rental?

Wolf Bay’s catering team says it can prepare a private dinner party in your own home with one of its personal chefs, and 5 O’Clock Seafood Boil Service cooks a seafood boil in your vacation rental, preferring groups of 15 to 40. Seafood boils at the Beachfront Duplex are allowed if you ask us first.

Can we cook dinner for 27 at the Beachfront Duplex?

Yes. The Beachfront Duplex is a beachfront duplex of two side-by-side homes, each with its own entrance, fully stocked kitchen and living room, so two cooking crews can work at once. There are outdoor grills and picnic tables, and the two sides share a beachside pool.

Where can we buy groceries or get them delivered?

Rouses Markets has stores in Gulf Shores and Orange Beach. The Orange Beach store has a full-service bakery, deli, seafood and meat counters and prepared foods, and offers pickup and delivery seven days a week. For restaurant delivery, the tourism board points to the local service Time to Eat the Beach and to the Uber Eats and DoorDash apps.

Can we have a picnic or cookout on the beach?

Not with a grill. Gulf Shores bans fires, grills and cooking devices, glass and alcoholic beverages on its public beaches, and Orange Beach bans fire (including grills), glass containers and loud music on its beaches. Cook at the home, or reserve a picnic pavilion with a charcoal grill at Lake Shelby in Gulf State Park.

Can we host a party or event at your homes?

Our Gulf Coast homes don’t host weddings or events. For a dinner that goes beyond the people staying with us, book one of the private rooms in this guide.
